Jack Jones was described by devastated family members as “very much loved by all” in an emotional tribute. He died after he was knocked off his bicycle by a driver who it is alleged failed to stop at the scene.

The boy was rushed to hospital after the smash on Monday night, but medics were unable to save him, Liverpool Echo reports.

Speaking today via Merseyside Police, heartbroken family members said: “Jack was a funny, kind and sensitive boy. He loved being with friends and outdoors, just hanging out, being a typical 15-year-old boy.

“He will be hugely missed by everybody, and he was very much loved by all.

“We all love you very much, Jack, you will always be in our heart and thoughts xx.”

Jack lived in Woodchurch, Merseyside, a short distance from where the accident happened in the Upton area.

Police arrested a 22-year-old suspect on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road accident.

It is believed the motorist involved on Monday was driving a silver SUV.

Officers are still investigating and have encouraged anyone with any information to come forward.

A spokesman for the force added: “Jack’s family have asked for privacy as they grieve for their loss.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact (0151) 777 5747, or via @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, with reference 21000266987.”
