The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are coming to the end of their official tour, which started last Thursday. The royal couple had a busy schedule, meeting with various frontline workers, NHS staff members, the military and local volunteers to mention but a few of their engagements. They also hosted a screening of Emma Stone’s new film, Cruella, for NHS workers at a specially created drive-in cinema.

William initially arrived without his wife, Kate, who joined him on May 24.

While on his own, The Duke of Cambridge paid a visit to the Queens Bay Lodge Care Home in Edinburgh, where he enjoyed an interesting conversation with 96-year-old Betty Magee.

Recalling the episode in a video call on Monday with actresses Emma Thompson and Emma Stone, William said: “I got propositioned by a 96-year-old lady called Betty yesterday who wanted to kiss me.

“She’s in a care home with her daughter and I said ‘Betty, if I do that I’m going to get slapped on the back of the head for inappropriate social distancing.’

“She said ‘I’ll have you afterwards then!’… She was a right character!”

An amused Kate laughed, before replying: “This is what happens when I’m not around!”

The royal couple met and fell in love while studying at the university almost 20 years ago.
