The Duke of Sussex has continually insulted the Prince of Wales’s parenting skills and moaned about being cut off financially in successive interviews. Now it appears that the 36-year-old’s latest assault may have pushed things over the edge.

During the AppleTV+ podcast, Harry suggested his dad’s parenting left him with “genetic pain and suffering” and said he wanted to “break that cycle” while raising his own children.

When Princess Diana died, Harry was just 12 years old and was one of several family members that walked behind her coffin as Diana’s funeral was broadcast across the world.

In the interview, Harry said his family did not speak about his mother Princess Diana’s death and expected him to just deal with the resulting press attention and mental distress.

“My father used to say to me when I was younger, he used to say to both William and I, ‘Well it was like that for me so it’s going to be like that for you’,” Harry explained.

But many point to Harry’s previous comments about his father – which paint a completely different picture of Charles.

In a 2017 documentary the prince said that his father had actually been there for him following Diana’s death.

“He was the one out of two left and he tried to do his best to make sure that we were protected and looked after,” he told the programme.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, 39, have endured an increasingly fractious relationship with the royals since stepping back as senior members last January.

The couple, along with son Archie, first relocated to Canada then California in search of a “private life”.

They have since signed lucrative multi-million dollar contracts with the likes of Netflix and Spotify.

An explosive interview they gave to Oprah Winfrey in March made the most noise – creating the biggest royal crisis in decades.

During the chat the pair levelled accusations of racism at the royals – something Prince William firmly denied just days later.

The tension was apparent when Harry attended Prince Philip’s funeral at Windsor Castle in April.

While some claim the constant barbs thrown by Harry have pushed things beyond repair, others think things may not be beyond reproach.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: “Charles is such a gentle man and a dedicated father first and foremost.

“He’ll be feeling wretched. He wants to seek a reconciliation. He is not vindictive at all.”

However, despite the claims, it has also been revealed that Charles’s patience surrounding criticism of his mother The Queen appears to be growing thin.

The insider continued: “Charles will want to engage, but it’s fair to say what Harry has said in both interviews with Oprah has been seen as very callous within the family.

“If Harry was to attack the Queen in a more personal way, Charles would close ranks with the Queen without a doubt and Harry would be out in the cold.”
