Graham Smith told Express.co.uk that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be part of royal news coverage for years and that the path the couple has chosen will be compared against Prince William and Kate’s royal route. Republic is an organisation that campaigns for the monarchy to be abolished.

Mr Smith said: “I think that all the stories around the difficulties the brothers were having and the stories about the unveiling of the Diana memorial, various other stories keep coming up.

“Firstly, Meghan and Harry are not going away, they are still going to be part of royal coverage for many years to come.

“[They will be] a continuous reminder of these accusations that came up, a continuous reminder that princes can just walk away and do something else.

“And a continuous contrast between Harry and Meghan on one hand and William and Kate on the other.

“So I think that is going to be a big problem.”

Royal fans were initially excited with the idea of a “Fab Four” within the Royal Family made up of the younger generation, the Cambridges and Sussexes, when Meghan married Harry.

However, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams the “Fab Four” concept which lumped the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was “flawed” as Kate and Prince William have “different personalities” to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

He also told Express.co.uk the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were supportive of Meghan Markle when she joined the Royal Family

“The whole concept of the ‘fab four’ was flawed.”

The royal commentator added: “The Finding Freedom version of events implies that the Cambridges could have done more.

“The facts are they had different futures, they have very different personalities.

“I think that was reflected in what we know but there may probably be a lot we do not know.”
