The Sporting CP captain’s transfer to United is set to be confirmed today.
After defeat to United last night, Bernardo was asked about his Portugal teammate and said: “I am very happy for him because it is a big step for his career. It is a step that Bruno deserved.
“He will play for one of the best clubs in the world, we will be rivals but I wish him the best. Not against us, obviously, but I wish him the best and I hope everything goes well.
“Adaptation always depends on player to player. Changing clubs and countries is always difficult. Bruno has already played in Italy, returned to Portugal and now will play in England. It will not be the first experience abroad and in a way I think a player with Bruno’s quality
will adapt well and everything will be fine.

“I’m glad he comes, we still have a game against United at their home and possibly I will still play against him this year.”
